About Us
MH Architects is an Egypt-based since 2011 with another 10 years in The USA, regionally engaged practice led by Architect Dr. Mohamed Hendawi. MH Architects with more than 20 years of Experiences in Egypt, USA, Oman, and KSA Provides a very strong understanding in Design and Build markets. MH Created different JVs with international design offices around the globe such as UK, Spain, France, KSA & Turkey. MH specializes in creating livable, enjoyable, healthy, and comfortable palaces and spaces—grounded in Biophilic Design, Attention Restoration Theory (ART), Stress Recovery Theory (SRT), Neuro-architecture, and the WELL Building Standard. Across architecture, interior architecture, and urban & landscape design, MH Architects integrates nature with the built environment to elevate human well-being and performance

1) Architectural Design — Performance, Poise, and Place
MH Architects’ architectural work balances expressive form with measurable outcomes. Each building is conceived as an ecosystem where daylight, airflow, material tactility, thermal comfort, and acoustic clarity work together to reduce stress and enhance cognitive function—principles drawn from ART/SRT and neuro-architecture. Biophilic strategies—courtyards, green edges, shaded galleries, water presence, and nature-connected vistas—are embedded from concept to detail, not added as décor. The result is resilient, context-aware architecture that meets client ambitions while advancing health, energy efficiency, and long-term operational value for developments across Egypt and the wider region
2) Interior Architecture — Human-Centered, Evidence-Led
MH interiors translate scientific insight into daily comfort. Plans prioritize intuitive wayfinding, daylight gradients, and restful visual fields; materials are selected for low emissions and multisensory richness; and lighting strategies support circadian rhythms without sacrificing hospitality or brand expression. From private palaces to high-end residential and mixed-use environments, MH Architects curates’ spaces that feel calm, clear, and restorative—aligning with WELL concepts such as Air, Light, Thermal Comfort, Mind, and Materials. Every interior decision is evaluated for both aesthetic impact and its contribution to occupant health and satisfaction

3) Urban & Landscape Design — Nature as Infrastructure
MH’s urban and landscape practice treats nature as core infrastructure. Planting palettes are chosen for climate resilience and seasonal delight; microclimates are shaped through shade, evapotranspiration, and wind guidance; and pedestrian networks are designed to invite movement, chance encounters, and community life. Blue-green systems manage stormwater visibly and beautifully, while habitat layers and native species increase biodiversity. Public realms, resort landscapes, and residential compounds emerge as well-being districts—places where people recover attention, reduce stress, and reconnect to the rhythms of the natural world

About Dr. Mohamed Hendawi — A Vision Rooted in Science and Humanity
Architect Dr. Mohamed Hendawi leads MH Architects with the conviction that humans are part of nature—and our buildings must reflect that truth. His design leadership operationalizes proven research:
- Biophilic Design to foster connection with natural patterns and processes.
- ART/SRT to reduce mental fatigue and support rapid stress recovery through views, refuge/prospect, and gentle sensory stimuli.
- Neuro-architecture to align space, light, texture, and geometry with how the brain perceives safety, beauty, and coherence.
- WELL Building Standard principles to translate health science into verifiable performance and better daily living
Under Dr. Hendawi’s direction, the studio’s work has been recognized for design excellence and for pioneering biophilic, human-centered environments across Egypt and the broader Middle East. MH Architects continues to partner with forward-thinking clients to deliver evidence-based, nature-integrated architecture that is timeless in expression and rigorous in performance.

MH Architects Wins UIA 2024 with Biophilic Child Development Center – Oman
MH Architects, under the leadership of Dr. Mohamed Hendawi, secured a prestigious recognition as a UIA Winner 2024 for their groundbreaking project: the Biophilic Child Development Center in Muscat, Oman
Project Excellence: Biophilic Child Development Center
- First of its kind in the Arab world and region, this center embraces biophilic design to support children and their families through nurturing, nature-rich architecture. The design features a circular plan with a lush inner courtyard, shaded eco-roof, sun breakers, water elements, and natural materials—to create a micro-environment promoting comfort, stress relief, and sensory delight. Responding to Oman’s high humidity, Dr. Hendawi designed a Shaded‑Shield Eco‑roof, ensuring children can safely enjoy the environment even in challenging climates
UIA Recognition & Guidebook Publication
- The project’s exceptional design has been published in the UIA Guidebook for the 2030 Agenda, which showcases exemplary architecture aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals
The UIA has made the 2023 Guidebook for the 2030 Agenda available online, presenting architectural projects around the world that advance the SDGs:
